NEWS: KY3-TV Features Bolivar Schools’ HEPA Air Purifier Systems

KY3-TV in Springfield, MO this week highlighted a local school district taking proactive steps to bring healthy, clean air to their classrooms and larger, high-traffic spaces. Bolivar School District leaders invested in indoor air quality upgrades by installing ISO-Aire commercial air purifiers to help mitigate spread of COVID-19 and other airborne germs so students and teachers can focus on learning.

Kevin Albers explains how ISO-Aire is purpose-built here in the U.S. as the preferred commercial air purifier for schools, offices, and daycare centers.

The district utilized federal COVID-19 grant funding to purchase the clean air systems that are equipped with proven, medical-grade HEPA filtration as well as ozone-free bipolar ionization. The commercial-grade air purifiers capture and destroy up to 99.99% of harmful airborne pathogens as well as pollen, dust, mold, VOCs, and other pollutants.

ISO-Aire RSF1000 HEPA air purifiers are ideal for protecting occupants inside larger, high-traffic areas such as gymnasiums, libraries, cafeterias, and auditoriums. For example, the Center City Public Charter Schools in Washington, D.C. installed commercial-grade air purifiers in their gymnasium.

“We worked through a couple years of trying to figure out how to best keep people healthy and learning,” said Principal Andy Love during the on-air interview. “And these units provide us with another way that we can make this a safe environment, a healthy environment for kids to learn, which is job #1.”

Proven HEPA Filtration Recommended COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy

Public health leaders at CDC, ASHRAE and the EPA all recommend improving building ventilation with in-space, HEPA filtration to help combat airborne transmission of COVID-19 in classrooms:

  • CDC recommendation: Use portable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) fan/filtration systems to enhance air cleaning;

  • The ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force outlines its core recommendations for reducing the spread of COVID-19 by selecting standalone filters and air cleaners that provide desired exposure reduction. Here ASHRAE explains the recommendation: High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are even more efficient at filtering human-generated infectious aerosols ... HEPA filters are more than 99.97% efficient at capturing airborne viral particles associated with SARS-CoV-2;

  • The EPA recommendation: Consider using portable air cleaners to supplement increased HVAC system ventilation and filtration, especially in areas where adequate ventilation is difficult to achieve.
