A leading Minnesota school community is preparing for a safe return-to-the-classroom by making a long-term investment to purify the indoor air circulating throughout their St. Louis Park campus. Groves Academy this week installed a fleet of ISO-Aire commercial air purifiers in classrooms and larger community spaces in advance of the first day of school on September 1, 2021. And, local NBC-TV affiliate KARE-11 was there to capture the story.

The significant, indoor air quality upgrade includes 56 powerful, in-space filtration units equipped with medical-grade HEPA filtration. HEPA, which stands for high efficiency particulate air filter, is proven filtration technology recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as part of its best-practice guidance for maintaining a clean-air environment in schools and daycare centers. Groves Academy utilized federal COVID-19 grant dollars to fund the school’s long-term air quality investment and ultimately protect the health and well-being of the school community for years to come.

“As we prepare to welcome students, faculty, and staff to campus, our operations team has taken added precautions to create a safe space for all by proactively mitigating the spread of COVID-19 as well as other contagious airborne germs,” explained Dan Morgan, President, Groves Academy. “We recognize the essential need to do everything possible to reduce risk of transmission and that includes adding a layer of indoor air quality protection throughout our facilities. Our priority here at Groves continues to center on the well-being of our community today, tomorrow, and for years to come.”

Groves Academy begins installing 56 commercial air purifiers to ensure the school’s indoor air is continuously cleaned, helping to capture and destroy 99.99 percent of airborne particulates such as viruses and emerging variants, bacteria, mold, pollen, dust, and other air contaminants. This includes:

  • 50 RSF300 units equipped with 12-inch deep, medical-grade HEPA filtration will be placed in each classroom;

  • Six RSF1000 units will purify the air in higher-traffic community spaces such as the gymnasium, lunchroom, and library. The RSF1000s feature a dual-layer of filtration protection including the 12-inch HEPA paired with ozone-free bipolar ionization. Together the two technologies operate in an effective offensive/defensive strategy, capturing and destroying 99.99% of airborne pathogens and pollutants.

Chuck Albers and his Ducts & Cleats team developed ISO-Aire at their St. Paul, Minn. facility in early 2020 at the request of one of Minnesota’s leading healthcare organizations in response to COVID-19 to ensure a secure and safe hospital room environment for patients and employees. Realizing the technology could be adapted for commercial use, they redesigned the unit to accommodate a variety of building environments, such as schools, child-care centers, restaurants, hair salons, military bases, museums, corporate offices, and fitness studios.  Albers noted, one of the most important safeguards during the pandemic is sanitizing the indoor air by removing any trace of harmful contaminants to help protect one another. As schools and college campuses ramp-up to bring students and staff back for in-person learning, ISO-Aire is proud to support school partners from California to Washington, D.C., and communities in between.

“ISO-Aire is purpose-built to address COVID-19 and other droplet and airborne-based infections in healthcare settings, and we are proud to offer that same level of unsurpassed protection for our neighbors to the west at Groves Academy,” explained Albers, developer of ISO-Aire and owner of parent company Ducts & Cleats. “Plastic, throw-away air purifiers cannot hold up to commercial applications, and this is particularly true in active school environments. Industrial, U.S.-made ISO-Aire delivers on all fronts – from smart design and premier parts to proven technology and robust construction.”
